West Wind Shelters started in 1993 in a little manufacturing shop West of Monticello. Due to a lack of quality, safe products, and the owner’s manufacturing experience; the portable-steel horse shelter was developed. With Larry Grimlie’s lifetime experience with horses and running a successful boarding business, he designed something portable, safe and a building that will last a lifetime.
With the huge popularity, the shop expanded and moved to Clearwater, MN in 2005. New products also followed like the Zero waste square bale feeder and custom stalls. All products that were designed and used by the owner himself. Products designed by a horse owner for horse owners, allowing horse people to design what they really need.
In 2024, the business passed on to the second generation. Larry’s daughter, son-in-law and grandson look forward to maintaining the legacy of West Wind Shelters. The business is a huge donator to the local Veteran and Fire Dept Organizations in the community and will continue to manufacture quality products.
